The Seventh Religion was launched on April 26, 2014, on a farm in Baltimore County, Maryland at sunrise.
It is based on three core principles:
1. Reconciliation between men and women and more generally between any groups of people who see themselves as separate and opposed. We think that men and women –and all people — should celebrate each other and each person should be a full participant in the Seventh Religion. It is time for a new start in this area, reflecting what we have learned in the United States and elsewhere about freedom and equality. We want our religious practices to reflect the best of what we know and who we are now.
2. The Seventh Religion is not a twelve step program nor is it affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous. However we observe that the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous have helped create a global spiritual movement without problems of money, property, and prestige. We wish to do likewise.
3. We intend to honor and carry forward the wisdom of the world’s great religions. We are not breaking away or criticizing. We urge anyone interested in the Seventh Religion to continue to practice whatever religions or spiritual traditions have been meaningful to you. We believe that the great spiritual leaders of the past and present want us to go forward and to create something new. They have been waiting and hoping we would do so.
